Rag Blanket

Grandma House and her three grandchildren. Cash was 4 hours old here. I was 470,412 hours old.
Before I traveled to Tucson I put together this rag quilt. I sew and quilt a lot but have never done one like this.
The backside was blue flannel with the words from the song "I am a Child of God" in many languages. This is especially sweet since my Uncle LeGrand Ward's sister, Naomi Ward Randall, wrote that song!
Running on a rodeo theme, I cut up two shirts I had with my mother's picture to add to the mix. Now he can look at his cowgirl great-grandma every day and drool over her. Maybe Cash will grow up to be a cowboy no matter what Willie Nelson says about cowboys and babies....afterall, I am from Red Bluff, home of the 'largest two-day rodeo in the world', and Steve is from Wyoming, 'The Cowboy State'. I can picture him as a bronc-riding champ. 8 seconds is all it takes.

Buy Rice!

Actually, there isn't much rice shown in this picture, but way around the bend in this photo is about 700 lbs of rice. I already had about 400, but before it was rationed at Costco, Christian and I went down there and hauled away what we could....our tail pipe was almost dragging......THEN, our neighbor was moving and wanted to give away all her food storage---lots of #10 cans of wheat, rice, soup mixes, apple slices.... so Gary and I loaded up again. I LOVE having this food supply...it makes me feel oddly secure and obedient, and I rotate it regularly. It is interesting that when it's Christian's turn to say the family prayer in the evening, he often includes "and protect our food storage "...what a guy, but then, what do teeagers think of more than food? Not much.

SISTERS

These two are BIG sisters now.
Here are the siblings and parental units that raised me. And to think that I came from such common stock. This was taken at Mark's wedding...Anne, Brad, Mark, Dayton.
Dad is never happier than when he is working.
Christian and his cousins, Richard, Daniel, Emily, (Grandpa Call) & Rebecca.
Dad and I at Christina's wedding. He was just released yesterday from a five day stay in the hospital. He had surgery that was successful, but still has a terrific cough. He has to sleep sitting up in a chair.

Macy

Once when Macy was looking at Baby Cash, she asked about the umbilical cord. After her mother explained it to her, she said "Can I pull it off?"

Love him!

The Talk

I love this picture. Steve is giving them 'the talk' on how to behave when they go down to the hospital cafeteria for dinner.

Snoop Dog and the BOM

I had to borrow this from Melissa's blog---very interesting photo of Snoop Dog getting some righteous in his life. I hope he's reading the story of Abinidi, or Alma, or Ammon...anything with an "A" is fine with me--Anne.

Wonder who made that cute baby blanket?

We've come to take the Baby

Steve was working on the day we came to take the baby home. He left the house at 5:00 a.m. and would not be home till noon the following day... however, he was able to meet us when Melissa and his son were released. He brought lots of chocolates back to the other residents to celebrate. He also bought lunch for the nurses who helped with the labor & delivery....

Who are these mysterious ladies?

Now where did I leave my hat?

Guest Room

I get to sleep in this darling guest room when I come to visit. I arrived Tuesday night and will stay a week to help out, cook, and sew. I am going to recover their patio furniture.
Checking out the baby...HEY ..... What's that? BOYS ARE DIFFERENT!

The Fowlers Five

Kami, CASH, Melissa, Macy, Steve ......
It is tradition in the Fowler Family for the baby to give gifts to the siblings...maybe so they won't feel left out. PRESENTS!

Coming To See Their Brother

Steve had arranged to have the day off when Melissa was induced, so I thought it was pretty classy that he dressed up in slacks, sports coat and a tie for the birth of his son. This is the same hospital that calls him Dr. Fowler, but to these girls he's just DAD.
Finally they see their mommy...and we're all waiting for the nurse to bring the new baby in. Doesn't Melissa look great for someone who just went through labor a few hours before?

Cash in Hand

Only 4 hours old............... Introducing Cash Douglas Fowler born April 9, 2008 -- 19" --- 6 lbs 9 oz -- 2:36 p.m. Apgar score (out of 10) 9 at 1 min and 9 at 5 mins. Everyone is doing fine and he is adorable...everyone says he looks like Kami

Christian as a Baby 1992

All these postings of babies has got me remembering back when I had a little one...I love cats, babies, cute hats, quilts, grass and scriptures. This picture has it all.
Christian's 4 grandparents..Houses on the left, Calls on the right.

Christian Laettner 1992

Christian House as named after Christian Laettner. Everyone in North Carolina agrees it was a wise choice. Melissa actually came up with the suggestion when we were in Durham, NC, for Christmas three months before he (my Christian) was born in Pocatello, Idaho. As my grandma would say, 'an awfully nice looking fellow...'

Remembering the Baby Days

With the birth of my grandson in 4 days, and the darling photos of Henry Stanley and Heidi's little boy, I am nostalic for my own new mother and baby days....the most recent was 16 years ago. Here are some photos: Our house on Blevin Road in Yuba City...January, 1992..."It's a Boy"
Gary and his first and only son, Christian Jordan House...you would think those would be religious names...but noooo....I am married to a diehard Tar Hill North Carolina fan (and UNC alumni)...He is named after 2 of the NC great basketball players---Christian Laettner and Michael Jordan.... I wanted to name him Henry Richard Call. I lost. But I've really loved the name Christian for all its REAL meaning. He's never been a Chris.
Crib room, it was my office but I gave it up...

The Baker Man

Darren told me he always thought he'd like to be a cook, so I let him take over the cinnamon roll job.
Ahhh, just before they go into the oven.
Now I'm watching conference with the family.
